A few days back, I along with a colleague at DNA, met Quentin Staes-Polet, CEO of Kreeda games. Turns out they were handling the marketing of GTA IV PC version in India.

He said that the sales of the game has been pretty strong in India, considering the high system requirements and the low PC penetration coupled with high piracy. 50K in 5 months in India.. sounds like a decent figure to me! Sales figure aside, I liked the fact that they convinced e-Xpress the distributers to sell the games for Rs500 ($10) in India!

The company which started off in India with Dance Mela, now doesn’t restrict itself to game development alone. According to Quentin, it takes several millions to produce a customised version of an international game. Dance Mela is such a localised version of Dance Dance Revolution. Dance Mela game has almost broken even on all the expenses.
