Desi Adda: Games of India- First Screens: Looks Better Than Hanuman

After Fifa, NFL, NBA, Cricket, now Indian games are ready to mark their presence on the gaming arena with Desi Adda: Games of India. Sony  has developed this console game that includes indigenous sports like Pachisi, Goat & the tiger, Kite Fight, Kabaddi, Gilli Danda and the beat matching dance game. The game is developed by Hyderabad based GameShastra, for PS2.

First Looks

First impression is the last impression”. This saying has always mattered and will matter in the future too. Desi Adda has lived up to this saying. After checking out the Hanuman earlier which disappointed us, Desi Adda by the looks of it impresses us here. Hope it lives up to the impression it has created here.s_Dance-Comp-1 s_Kabbadi-Comp s_Market-Comp1

The game surprisingly has a s ’story line’. You play the part of Avinash, son of an NRI businessman, who comes to visit his ancestral village (Dil Bole Hadippa in a rural way :P ). The guy has spent his time abroad, and this being his his first visit to an Indian village, it fascinates him. The story unfolds as he roams around the village and plays the different village games. We hope they won’t have cheesy hindi dialogues like in the Hanuman game which was released earlier.

Priced at Rs499 for PS2 and Rs999 for the PSP (yes there’s a PSP version!), the game is playable in 3 Indian languages : Hindi, Punjabi and in Tamil and this game is the first game completely developed by Indian Development Studio for the PSP.

Developed on a low budget, what we think here is that the game should get a fair trial & has to be seen as a advancement in the Indian gaming industry (trying to be a nationalist here :P ).

We are curious to see how they implemented games like kabaddi, gilli danda on a console and how the game mechanics are going to be. Watch out this space for more updates.

PS: Again, we’re hoping,  praying, pleading that it’s not like Hanuman. If it is, we’re not even bothering to play it fully like we did last time!

Valkyria Chronicles II Anounced. Now Wait Till 2010

Good news for PSP, and not so good news for PS3. Sega has decided to develop a sequel for their famous PS3 action-strategy title, Valkyria Chronicles. The sequel to the PS3 action-strategy title will be available exclusively for PSP by summer 2010 and not for PS3.

Valkyria Chronicles received widespread critical acclaim when it launched on PS3 last year, so their decision to launch it on PSP alone has raised eyebrows everywhere.

The story of Valkyria Chronicles II is expected to be similar to the original. The events in the game, takes place two years after the conclusion of the original. In Valkyria II, a group of young military academy cadets find themselves plunged into a bitter civil war when the newly formed Gallian Revolutionary Army stages a coup.

Lets face one thing.  By going to PSP, the game will lose one of the best things about the game… its beauty..lets wait & see.

Timbaland with Rockstar Games preaches to be “The Way You are” with Beaterator

Now this is some news (Atleast for us). Timbaland is going to collaborate with Rockstar games to bring Beaterator to PSP. Beaterator for PSP system and PlayStation Network puts a world-class mixer at your fingertips – enabling easy, powerful and innovative creation.

Music games are all the rage these days, with lots of plastic instruments to choose from for your Guitar Heroing, Rock Banding and Sing Starring pleasure. The difference between Beaterator and these rhythm / music games is that here you’re creating music, not imitating it. There’s no hackneyed storyline here about an up-and-coming music producer trying to fight his way off of the mean streets, defying all odds in his bid to make it to the big time.

Beaterator is going to be more like a music-making tool that you can access on the go, allowing you to craft music from a library that encompasses thousands of different sounds and loops, including 1300 or so that Timbaland made specifically for Beaterator. One of the cooler aspects of Beaterator is the ability to use the built-in PSP microphone (available on PSP-3000 and PSP Go) and create your own sounds.

Beaterator is out to break down the barrier to entry for those who’ve wanted to craft their own beats or become music producers.. Beaterator for PSP system will be arriving on shelves on September 29th, 2009 in North America and on October 2nd, 2009 in Europe.

A few PSP rumours

Joystiq reports that it might be possible to play age old games on PSP without you having to install a separate virtual console. Now that is some good news – if true – for I would love to play a few classics on the move… Anyways virtual consoles on PC where a bit too much of a hassle.

But hey don’t expect any NES titles it will be only PSP one games and a few retro stuff which came before PSP era.

Rumour # 2

I saw this on engadget. Apparently next-gen PSP (called PSP 4000) is planned for release this year. Yes even thought recession has beaten the market black and blue!

Our development source today confirmed these reports, adding: “The screen is basically the same as the one in the 3000 – except it slides.” When ‘closed’, we were told, the screen won’t cover the entire face of the console, but the unit will be “significantly smaller in width” as a result.

Sliding tactic? I cry foul… what about all the dust that will go innetween the sliding mech and destroy the hardware?
